Are you the one God is looking for to “stand in the gap” for the fatherless, the poor, the widow, the infirmed, the oppressed, the abused, the immigrant? In Ezekiel, the Lord says, “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.” (22:30) During Ezekiel’s time, the wall in Jerusalem had been breached and it was no longer a protective shield against the enemy.
It was not just the natural wall that had been broken down, but the breach of the physical wall reflects Israel’s sinful condition and the breach between them and a Holy God. They had committed all kinds of abominations. Their sins and wrongdoings had caused God to allow their wall to be desecrated by the enemy. They needed to turn from their wicked ways before the city was completely decimated.
God did not want to bring the wrath of his judgment upon Jerusalem, but he is a Holy God! He spoke to Ezekiel, telling him to speak to the “bloody city,” Jerusalem, and pronounce his judgment on their abominations! So, Ezekiel publicly exposed their vile sins. In Ezekiel 22:6-12, Ezekiel illuminated Israel’s wickedness:
- Your leaders used their power to shed blood.
- You have disparaged your fathers and mothers.
- You have oppressed the strangers/foreigners.
- You have mistreated the fatherless and the widow.
- You have profaned that which is holy, including the sabbath days.
- You have caused bloodshed through slander.
- You have committed acts of lewdness: uncovering your father’s nakedness; violating women; committing lewd acts with your neighbor’s wives, your daughters-in-law and your sisters.
- You have taken bribes and usury for dishonest increase and you have extorted your neighbors.
- BUT MOST OF ALL, YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN ME!
The Lord God tells Ezekiel that he “sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and to stand in the gap before me in the land, that I should not destroy it.” (22:30) The prophets had devoured souls; taken treasure; spoken divining lies; and made many widows. The priest had profaned the sabbath and God’s holy things; shown no difference in the holy and the unholy; and profaned God among them. The princes had shed blood and destroyed souls for dishonest gain. Even the people (those who had any power) had robbed and mistreated the poor and needy; and oppressed the stranger wrongfully. (Ezekiel 22:25-29) As for finding someone to stand in the gap, the Lord God says, “I found none.” (Ezekiel 22:30)
The priests, the prophets, the princes and the people could not distinguished between the holy and the unholy; the clean and the unclean; the pure and the impure. Because God could find no righteous person to repair the breach; to intercede; and to defend the sinful nation, his judgment fell upon Israel!
We are at a pivotal point in this country today, my friends. Holy barriers are being torn down; the unholy is being proclaimed as holy. Vile abominations are occurring here in this country: profaning the name of our Lord; exhorting from and mistreating the poor, the needy, different racial/ethnic groups; acquiring riches through dishonest gains; oppressing the foreigner and the immigrants; sexually violating women; and the list goes on. And though most of the Church are not doing these things, many are turning a blind eye towards them. How can the unsaved distinguish between what the church calls clean and what it calls unclean. Proverbs 14:12 declares that, “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” The Church is God’s oracle here on the earth! God’s Church must take a stand. It is the job of the Church to represent our Lord and take dominion. The Church of the Living God must no longer look to misguided Christian leaders who look to political systems and to earthly politicians to bring deliverance to a sinful nation. As in the time of Ezekiel, those in authority are part of the problem. Those who are responsible for the problems cannot solve the problems. As long as the church is unable distinguish between the holy and the unholy, they cannot be used. (I don’t like saying this!) God is looking for a righteous man/a righteous woman to stand in the gap before he has to judge this nation!
Is there a righteous person (or persons) who can repair the breach and stand in the gap for this sinful nation among you? Is there a righteous person to stand in the gap for the things that are happening in the world today among you? Every time I pray about this, the Holy Spirit takes me right back to 2 Chronicles 7:14:
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
There is no getting around this, we as the Church, must humble ourselves, turn from our wicked ways and repent. Our healing and course correction will come from Almighty God. We must obey scripture and continue to pray for the leaders that we have; my friends. However, I know deep down in my soul and in my “heart of hearts,” that God is looking for men and women “after his own heart”; men and women who he is anointing and raising up to lead our country. Maybe some of you are called to leadership for a time like this!
When we seek after the Lord Jesus, our Christ, with all of our hearts and souls, He will hear our prayers and heal our land. We are called to intercede for our country and the other nations of the world. However, we must be sober, my friends, for our Father God is Almighty and Holy, so we must be righteous and holy in order to stand in the gap and intercede before Him! We live in perilous times! Compromising godliness or condoning sin and corruption are not options. Are you willing to take a stand for righteousness with our Almighty Holy Father God, in the Name of His dear Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ? There is no other way, my friends.
Be blessed.

EZEKIEL 14: 12 -23!
12The word of the LORD came again to me, saying, 13 Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it: 14Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD. 15If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts: 16Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate. 17Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it: 18Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves. 19Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast: 20Though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.
21For thus saith the Lord GOD: How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem (AMERICA), the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast? 22Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem (AMERICA), even concerning all that I have brought upon it. 23And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings: and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord GOD.

Ezekiel 14: 1-11 and Jeremiah 23:1
Then came certain of the elders of Israel ( the Church) unto me, and sat before me. 2And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 3Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them? 4Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols; 5That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.
6Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations. 7For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel (the Church), which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to inquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself: 8And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
9And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel. 10And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him; 11That the house of Israel (the Church) may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, saith the Lord GOD.
Jeremiah 23:1
1Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD. 2Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD. 3And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. 4And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.
To Those Prophesying “FAR OFF, FAR OFF” Ezekiel 12 :22-28 Has Entered the Earth
22 Son of man, what is that proverb that ye have in the land of Israel, saying, The days are prolonged, and every vision faileth?
23 Tell them therefore, Thus saith the Lord God; I will make this proverb to cease, and they shall no more use it as a proverb in Israel; but say unto them, The days are at hand, and the effect of every vision.
24 For there shall be no more any vain vision nor flattering divination within the house of Israel.
25 For I am the Lord: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord God.
26 Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying.
27 Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth is for many days to come, and he prophesieth of the times that are far off.
28 Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord God.
