Sovereign and Holy Father God,
I praise you for your blessings and favor upon our nation; I thank you that your goodness to us far exceeds what we deserve. All is not right in our country and yet you have extended your grace, your mercy and your favor to us as a nation. As I come before you, Heavenly Father, I repent first of my own sins and then, by proxy, the sins of our leaders and the people of this nation, in the Name of Jesus. As your child, I come to you Holy Father, with sorrow in my heart; I come to You asking you to continue to have mercy on our nation. Convict your people, those of us who are called by your Name, of sin and compromising your Word, the Bible, in the Name of Jesus. Cause your people, those of us who are called by your Name, to repent of our sins and wickedness and seek moral and spiritual renewal in our hearts. Holy Father God, cause us to seek your righteousness; your Word states that it is then and only then will you hear our cries regarding this nation and heal this land, in the Name of Jesus. Lord, cause us to cry out for a spiritual renewal in our own hearts and then for the nation, in the Name of Jesus. Then cause the national leaders, from the President, to Congress, to the Supreme Court, to state, to county, to city leaders to repent of their sins and wickedness, in the Name of Jesus. As you bring spiritual renewal to those who are called by your Name, cause the nation’s leaders and the nation as a whole, to humble themselves, pray, seek your face and turn from their wicked ways, in the Name of Jesus.
As you bring repentance and revival to the hearts of your people, break the demonic stronghold of hatred, division, racism, classism and indifference to the plight of others that has gripped this nation, in the Name of Jesus. Bring peace and solace where there is division and hatred, in the Name of Jesus. Your son, Jesus, is no respecter of persons, so Holy God, cause us, as Christians, to be true disciples of your dear Son and view all people as worthy, particularly, “the least of these,” in the Name of Jesus. Bring saving grace to those in this country who do not know Jesus, your sacrificial lamb who died on the cross for our sins, in the Name of Jesus. Help us to not seek the glory that only belongs to you, my Lord. Help us to see that it is not about us–it’s about you, Sovereign God. Your plans are higher than anything that we could ever plan.
So, Lord, I seek your direction for this tumultuous time in our nation’s life; I trust you to right the sinking ship that is our nation, in the Name of Jesus. Thank you for blessing us in spite of us, in the Name of your Son and my Lord and Savior, Jesus. Amen.
