A Prayer for Resurrection Day

My Dear Holy, Heavenly Father God, you are the magnificent creator of the whole universe. In your awesome divine creative plan, you created the heavens and the earth. You declared that you, the triune God would make a people in your own image–You did–and I thank you. In your infinite wisdom, you knew that your creation would need a Savior, so your Son Jesus became the designated Sacrificial Lamb. You chose to send your only begotten Son and I thank you that you have “blessed us in the heavenly realm with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3)

I thank you Jesus that, before the foundation of the earth, you knew that you would be the one to come to earth to redeem your people from their sins. You gave up your heavenly position and walked out the Word in human form. When you came to earth, you showed us how to live as image bearers of God. But more importantly, you bore the stripes for our healing and shed your blood on that infamous cross so that we would have redemption, forgiveness of our sins and eternal life. You triumphed over Satan; conquered death and cancelled our debt to legal rules and charges we could not pay. Thank you that we, through faith in you, continue to be rooted, strengthened and built up in our inner man, in Your Name. (Colossians 2) You then left us, Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth.

Thank you Holy Spirit for being our Advocate who came to us from Holy Father God and was left by Jesus to comfort and guide us. (John 14) Thank you for revealing to us God’s thoughts, wisdom and mysteries—mysteries that have been hidden since the foundation of the earth. Thank you for revealing to us through the Word of God what is yet to come. (1 Corinthians 2) You instruct, teach , correct, train and even rebuke us through the Word, and I thank you. I thank you dear Holy Spirit for your anointing and the bestowing of your callings and gifts upon us to equip and prepare us to fulfill God’s purposes and will on the earth.

On this the day we celebrate You, Jesus. We celebrate your resurrection; we honor your sacrifice on our behalf and we acknowledge you as our Savior, our Lord; our Deliverer; our Healer; our Redeemer; and our Restorer. We reverence you Father, Son and Holy Spirit, today and everyday, in Your Name, Jesus. Amen.
