Praying Against a Demonic Attack

I experienced a demonic attack this morning as I lay in bed.  As I have blogged previously, I had left hip surgery (for reasons I will detail at another time).  As I lay there in bed, my body literally felt so weak and listless.  I had been progressing very well from the surgery. There was no reason for me to feel so utterly drained and weak.  I discerned a spiritual attack from the forces of hell.  I needed someone to pray for me so that I could gain the strength to fight this attack.  So, I called one of my dearest and trusted friends for prayer cover.  She has been there for me throughout the years.  I told her about what was happening and asked her to pray and have her friends (who I also trust) pray for me also.

I sat up and asked forgiveness for any sins so that the Blood of Jesus covered me. I then sought entrance into the Courts of Heaven.  Robert Henderson writes about this in his book, Operating in the Courts of Heaven. It is important to come to Holy Father God’s court cleansed of sin by the Blood of Jesus. So, I came before God in his throne room of grace this morning, cleansed by the Blood of Jesus so that he would have the legal right to answer my prayer against this satanic attack.

I went before my Sovereign God and I said, “I come to your throne room of grace, Holy Father God, covered by the Blood of Jesus and with my sins forgiven.  I decree, Heavenly Father, that Satan (who is the accuser of the brethren) and his demonic minions be silenced and unable to accuse me in your throne room.  (It is here that I gave my Father God legal right to adjudicate for me.)

Friends, as I brought my case before my Sovereign God, I could literally see Ephesians 6:10-18 come alive for me.  It says in verse 11, “Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the devil’s schemes.” It repeats this a second time in verse 13, “. . . put on the full armor of God, (and continues with) so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”  I don’t remember literally putting on the my spiritual armor, but I had it on:

  • I had on the belt of truth (foundation in God’s Word).
  • I had on the breastplate of righteousness (forgiven of sin).
  • I had on the shield of faith (protection against the fiery darts).
  • I had on the helmet of salvation (mind and soul protected from doubt).
  • I had the sword of the Spirit (Word of God).
  • I had my feet fitted with the gospel of peace (standing firm).
  • I prayed in the spirit and my friend and her prayer warriors were also praying.

I could see myself standing with my armor on and with the shield of faith covering me from the fiery darts. I usually see myself kneeling with a shield covering my head and body, but today, I was standing boldly holding that shield of faith against the spiritual attacks.

As I stood before my Sovereign God, I used my sword of the spirit, the Word, to decree that, “my struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:12) I further decreed the Word of Sovereign God that, “Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world, . . .” (1 John 4:4) I decreed, according to the Word of God, that, “No weapon forged (formed) against me will prevail (prosper). . .” I decreed that Father God, would send warring angels out to do battle against the forces of hell and send those attacks back to the sender (to the pit of hell), in the Name of Jesus. I then thanked my Holy Father God, in the Name of Jesus.

My strength returned! Praises to God who loves us and who hears and answers our prayers!

Ephesians 6:18 goes on to say that we should continue to pray for all things with all kinds of prayers and requests. We are to stay alert, my friends, and pray always for the saints as my friends were and still are praying for me.

Be blessed.

I give a shout out to my dear friend in Virginia–you are always there for me. Words cannot express my appreciation. Thanks also to your friends there in Virginia and their intercession on my behalf. They, I might also add, are my friends, too.
