There are times, my friends, when you may become depleted, worn out, overwhelmed and in need of a refreshing touch from the Lord. You may have experienced a recent tragedy. You may have begun to feel down because of a debilitating illness. Some trauma (or painful memory) may have resurfaced causing a dark cloud of depression to engulf you. You may have just overworked your body or mind with work. You may be recovering from an illness and you want to speed up the healing process or make the physical therapy go faster. These feelings maybe exasperated by stressors, anxiety and even the lack of sleep.
Some of you may have begun to waver in your faith or wonder if God is with you. It is at these times that you need a refreshing from God. Going to the Word of God will give you the refreshing that you need. The Lord would have you remember this:
HE DOES NOT CHANGE. HE WILL DO WHAT HE SAID HE WILL DO.
God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? (Numbers 23:19, NIV)
Here is what God says he will do; these are his promises to you:
- God’s plans are to prosper and not harm you.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:1)
2. God’s desire it to take our burdens and give us rest.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28-29)
3. God gives us his peace.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27)
4. God gives us the victory.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us, For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:37-39)
The Lord is our saving refuge. (Psalm 28:8, ESV) So be in agreement with God’s Word and receive you victory today!
Be Blessed!
